I'M AVA

Fellow self-starters, you know I’m right there with you. Starting your own venture — whether it’s a blog, a freelance business, or really any kind of side hustle — is exciting and freeing, but it’s also scary AF sometimes. (I definitely felt this when I became my own boss!) It’s up to you to determine the message you want to put out in the world. Who is your audience? What do you stand for? What kind of service do you hope to provide?

As you’re figuring out your game plan, I have one little piece of advice. Consider getting professional photos taken! I know, I know… it may not sound like your favorite idea, especially if you hate being in front of a camera — but trust me, it can help your business more than you might think.

First of all, high-quality photos give you major professional cred. People are more likely to take you seriously if you look like you have your sh*t together, whether you’re a travel blogger or a web developer. Even if your life is chaotic behind the scenes, this is the perfect “fake it ‘til you make it” strategy.

Plus, professional photos give your brand a huge visual upgrade. In the age of Instagram and TikTok, your clients want to feel like they know you and can relate to your story. The key is finding a photographer you trust to capture your personality, and to join you in crafting the perfect brand vision.

If that’s not enough to convince you, there’s this: Great visual storytelling can give YOU the confidence you need to run your business like a boss. When you feel like a true professional, chances are you’ll have more enthusiasm for whatever you’re trying to do. With the right photographer, your session doesn’t have to feel like an awkward high school senior portrait shoot. You’ve got the great idea, and now you need the visuals to match. So, what are you waiting for?
